Okay, so I have a little addiction… Leopard Print ANYTHING, the letter “T”, and Me (just kidding about the “me” part, just sounded cute)! I came across these incredible letters several months ago at Total Bliss in Summerfield. Nancy had a simple “S” painted red and I knew I had to have one for me too. After “slinging” some paint on my metal letter, I thought it would only be kind to share this SIMPLE technique that you could paint on just about any surface you’d like a bit of leopard pizzazz!
Step 8- Completed Project
Materials Needed:
*1 Fabulous Metal Letter~from Total Bliss, no doubt. (you can use any letter you choose if you happen to have one lying around your house)
*5 coordinating acrylic paints (I chose 4 shades of brown and a cream to mix).
*Spray primer
*Spray High Gloss Sealant
*Paint brushes in a variety of sizes
*Large sponge brush
*Paper towels
*Newspaper
Step 1:
Find a cool letter (and no you don’t have to use a “T”… unless you are gifting it to me)!
Step 1
Step 2:
Clean your Letter with rubbing alcohol (and don’t try to drink this kind… you might as well drink moon-shine)
Step 2
Step 3:
Spray on metal primer. You can use the brush on kind if you choose… I don’t.
Step 3
Step 4:
Find the color you want as a base color, don’t make this too dark because this will show though your entire project. I went with a neutral golden tan.
Step 4
Step 5:
Squirt your paint colors on a pallet (I just use an old cardboard cover to an old book… don’t ask, I don’t know where from). Then dab your paper-towels in a couple light-med colors (I used cream and mixed cream and brown). PLEASE NOTE: make sure to dab lightly and TEST on your newspaper to see what your going to have first. This might not be a perfect project, but it’s not a blob of paint either!
Step 5
And yes, you could use a sponge… I just can’t go back to the 90’s where “sponging” was happily left behind!
Step 6:
Paint your first layer of “Spots”… yes, I said FIRST layer! (I used a nice reddish brown)
Step 6
Step 7:
Here is where the fun begins! Add more dots RANDOMLY, remember this is perfect, just good ole’ FUN!!! (I used more shades of brown and no I didn’t drop my chocolate on there, anywhere… I think).
Step 7
Step 8:
And whoa-la… Leopard Print to the “T”. Oh yea, and if the thoughts of this makes you squeamish, it’s only paint!!! You can ALWAYS paint over it, start again or paint a solid color and go eat some chocolate!!!

You left out one important step…have your lovely niece assist you!
I loved it when I saw it, and I still love it now. An “L” would look really, really nice also!
only one word….FABULOUS ….
Trish,
That would make a great party décor idea!
I have some wooden letters I plan to decorate for my son, but I think I’ll not be using the leopard (he’s only 4!)
Thanks for linking to my Party (celebrations) Link Party!
Love,
Bird
